Raven symbolizes the unknown, wholeness, knowledge and has the power to clarify visions. He makes you aware of different perceptions and the subtlety of the truth. Everybody has their own truth.
“The Inspiration to make Raven Dancer came from close observation of Northwest Coast Indian Dancers and dancers from the Pacific Ballet Theatre of Vancouver. It was truly a bicultural creation, unique to British Columbia. For the Northwest Coast Indian artist, both the rhythm and movement of music and dance are intimately associated with two-dimensional design. There is a constant flow of movement reflected in the undulating form lines of all the art. The discipline of this ancient art is reflected in the power of the performer as he readies himself for the first steps.”

About the artist
Roy Henry Vickers (1946) is an accomplished First Nations artist raised at the northwest coast of British Columbia, Canada. Roy is a past president of the Northwest Coast Indians Artist’s Guild. He is currently living in Hazelton, Canada, BC. Roy was raised in Kitkatla, Hazelton and Victoria. You may say he has returned to his roots. The Village of Hazelton is a small town located at the junction of the Bulkley and Skeena Rivers, nestled at the foot of Stigyooden (Roche de Boule Mountain).
